Colorado Travel Information

Planes, trains and automobiles - they're the critical means of both getting into our beautiful state and finding those hidden corners of Colorado that forge unforgettable memories. Denver International Airport (DIA) is one of America's newest major airports, and its polished gleam is almost as brilliant as its remarkable efficiency. Beyond DIA are 10 other well-serviced airports that can cut into your drive time (and offer remarkable sightseeing if you're lucky enough to have a window seat on the landing). If you're traveling beyond the urban hubs of Denver and Colorado Springs, a rental car or transfer service is a must - both to connect the dots and to relive the joys of driving a scenic highway. Amtrak can go a step further with its railway service through the plains, mountains and canyons of Colorado. Sightseeing with a dining car: what could possibly be better? However you choose to get here and get around, the transportation industry of Colorado has got you covered

Twenty-three commercial airlines provide regular service to 10 Colorado cities, including smaller airports that serve as close gateways to many of the most popular mountain attractions.

Denver International Airport, the nation's sixth busiest, is served by 21 separate carriers, with direct flights to most major cities. Among these are international carriers British Airways, Lutfhansa, Mexicana and Air Canada. Most DIA passengers arrive on United Airlines or Frontier Airlines, both of which count Denver as a major hub. DIA also serves as center for shuttle service to outlying towns, mostly via United/United Express. Other major carriers include America West, American, Delta, Continental, ATA, Northwest, jetBlue, Spirit and US Airways.

With 10 airlines in its fold, Colorado Springs welcomes a surprising number of visitors--many bound for the assorted natural wonders of the Pikes Peak country, as well as nearby Canon City and points west.

Whether you're looking for a limousine to take you to your hotel, or a family car big enough for the five of you (and your camping gear), Colorado has got you covered. In fact, getting around the state usually involves a car in some form, and with our network of Scenic and Historic Byways you'll be more than happy to hit the road and not look back. From renting an SUV to hiring a cab to take you to the airport, this section can show you the way to some of Colorado's most reputable transportation businesses.
